AboutNouvelle Star was the French version of the TV show Pop Idol. From 2003 to 2010 and in 2017, it has been aired on the channel M6 & from 2012 to 2016, it was aired on D8. At the beginning, its name was "À La Recherche De La Nouvelle Star", but it was shortened the following year.
From 2003 to 2010, the winner signed to RCA/BMG (2003 & 2004), then Sony BMG/RCA (from 2005 to 2008) & Columbia/Sony Music (2009 & 2010). From 2012 to 2016, the winner signed to Universal/Polydor, then Barclay (2017).

The first season was aired from April to July 2003. The ten finalists were : Alexis Juliard, Cindie Bruzzi, Gabrielle Ducomble (Belgian), Jean-Sébastien Lavoie (Canadian), Jonatan Cerrada (Belgian), Jonathan Hassen-Ali, Lætizia Alberti, Priscilla, Thierry Amiel & Yoann Kelyann. They recorded the single "Laissons Entrer Le Soleil", originally sung by Julien Clerc, French adaptation of "Let The Sunshine In".
Jonatan Cerrada was the winner & Thierry Amiel was the runner-up. Jean-Sébastien Lavoie, the semifinalist, released his debut album in 2004.

The second season was aired from February to May 2004. The ten finalists were : Amel Bent, Babeth Lando, Charles Cattært, Geoffrey Lupart, John Zéra, Julien Laurence (Julien Chagnon, Swiss), Laura Tabourin, Pascal Crisinel (Swiss), Simon-Gad Barbey (Swiss) & Steeve Estatof. They recorded the single "Au Bout De Mes Rêves", originally sung by Jean-Jacques Goldman.
Steeve Estatof was the winner & Julien Laurence was the runner-up. Amel Bent, the semifinalist, released her debut album in 2004.

The third season was aired from February to May 2005. The ten finalists were : Benjamin Delcroix, Dan Perez, Francine Massiani, Malik Hemaidi, Mervyn Kennedy-McFoy, Myriam Abel, Philippe Léger, Pierrick Lilliu, Roland Karl & Sarah Riani. They recorded the single "Blame It On The Boogie", originally sung by Jacksons.
Myriam Abel was the winner & Pierrick Lilliu was the runner-up. Sarah Riani signed to Universal/Polydor in 2009.

The fourth season was aired from February to June 2006. The ten finalists were : Beverly, Bruno Rua, Christophe Willem, Cindy Santos (Swiss), Miss Dominique, Florian Lesca, Gaël Faure, Joana Boumendil, Stéphanie Lipstadt & Valérie Castan. They recorded the single "J'Irai Chanter", an original song chosen by the jury.
Christophe Willem was the winner & Miss Dominique was the runner-up. Gaël Faure, the semifinalist, released his debut album in 2008.

The fifth season was aired from February to June 2007. The ten finalists were : Alex Fondja, Cannelle Zahy, Gaëtane Abrial, Ilyès Yangui, Julie Mazi, Julien Doré, Pierre Darmon, Raphaëlle Dess, Soma Dufour & Tigane. They recorded 2 songs on the single : "3e Sexe", originally sung by Indochine & "Should I Stay Or Should I Go", originally sung by The Clash.
Julien Doré was the winner & Tigane was the runner-up. Gaëtane Abrial, the semifinalist, released her debut album in 2008.

The sixth season was aired from February to June 2008. The ten finalists were : Amandine Bourgeois, Benjamin Siksou, Cédric Oheix, Jules Pelissier, Julien Pierson, Kristov Leroy, Lucile Luzely, Siân Pottok, Thomas Marfisi & Ycare. They recorded the single "Highway To Hell", originally sung by AC/DC.
Amandine Bourgeois was the winner & Benjamin Siksou was the runner-up. Ycare released his debut album in 2009 & Thomas Marfisi signed to Barclay in 2011.

The seventh season was aired from February to June 2009. The ten finalists were : Camélia Jordana, Dalé Grenoble, Damien Vanni, Lary Lambert, Leïla Aïssaoui, Madhi Jaggae, Mélissa Nkonda, Soan, Thomas Bonneau & Yoann Pigny.
Soan was the winner & Leïla Aïssaoui was the runner-up. Camélia Jordana, the semifinalist, released her debut album in 2010. Mélissa Nkonda signed to Disc AZ France & released her debut album in 2011. Lary Lambert won "Encore Une Chance" in 2012.

The eighth season was aired from March to June 2010. The ten finalists were : Annabelle, Benjamin Bœhm, Dave Dario, François Raoult, Luce, Lussi Lebrun, Marine Villeret, Ramón Mirabet, Sacha Page & Stéphanie Vondenhoff (Belgian).
Luce was the winner & François Raoult was the runner-up. Dave Dario signed to Universal/Polydor in 2011.

The ninth season was aired from November 2012 to February 2013. The ten finalists were : Adélaïde Pratoussy, Charlotte Berry, Flo Devos, Florian Bertonnier, Julie Solia, Léa Layne, Paul Kay, Philippe Krier, Sophie-Tith & Timothée Rossignol.
Sophie-Tith was the winner & Florian Bertonnier was the runner-up.

The tenth season was aired from November 2013 to February 2014. The nine finalists were : Alvaro Echánove, Claudia Chu, Dana Ali-Ahmad, Léopoldine Hummel, Mathieu Saïkaly, Mehdi Dahmane, Pauline de Tarragon, Sirine Betton & Yseult.
Mathieu Saïkaly was the winner & Yseult was the runner-up.

The eleventh season was aired from November 2014 to March 2015. The eleven finalists were : Emji, Frances-Isabel Coontz, Kévin Cohen, Maëva Bellocq, Martial Betirac, Mathieu Kolanek, Micka Aubertin, Nelson Vard, Noémie Lemarchand, Pauline Laffitte & Ursula Ravelo.
Emji was the winner & Mathieu Kolanek was the runner-up.

The twelfth season was aired from February to May 2016. The ten finalists were : Caroline Pires, Caruso, Florie, Manu Galure, Maxime Penent, Mélanie June, Mia Rosello, Nirintsoa Rajoharison, Paul Plexi (Patrick Rouiller, Swiss) & Pierre Fabre.
Paul Plexi (Patrick) was the winner and Mia Rosello was the runner-up. Unfortunately Paul did not release any album on Universal/Polydor.

The thirteenth season was aired from November to December 2017. The twelve finalists were : Ashley Fortes, Azza Kamaria, Béni Radriamandibi, Carla de Coignac, Kamisa Negra, Lilou Robert, Mathieu Canaby, Ofé Piche, Slon, Victor Goun's, Xavier Matheu & Yadám Andrés.
Xavier Matheu was the winner and Yadám Andrés was the runner-up.
