OMarcus Lakee Edwards (born March 29, 1976), better known by his stage name Lil' Keke, is an American rapper and original member of the Southern hip hop collective Screwed Up Click.
Over the last few years Lil' Keke was presented with a "Lifetime Achievement Award" from President Obama, honored with his own day in the City of Houston by Mayor Annise Parker and he celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the release of his debut album "Don't Mess Wit Texas." He is a success and he's lives a charmed life by the standards of any Texas rapper, but for Marcus Edwards this is no time for slowing down. In fact he has dedicated more time and effort to his newest release "Slfmade II" than anything he's ever done be- fore as an independent artist/record label owner. All the accolades have just helped reaffirmed his commitment to his loyal following.
Fans of new Houston rap will be pleased to hear Keke featuring again with DJ Chose on the lead-off single "My Duffle", the follow single "No Love" with Chucky Trill and "Legend Talk" with DJ X.O. A sophisticated listener will notice three of these tracks are produced by Southern Superstar Big Krit who also features on the track "Say Mane" plus you'll hear appearances by some of the usual suspects like Bun B, Slim Thug, Z-Ro, SUC and more.
Lil' Keke gained national attention with his track "Southside" from his 1997 release "Don't Mess Wit Texas". In 2005, Lil' Keke signed to Swishahouse Records. In an interview with HitQuarters at the time, label president and A&R T. Farris said, "He is a legend here in Houston. He plays a big role in the whole style of rap that we make down here." Lil' Keke started out working alongside DJ Screw doing mixtapes.
In 2016, the rapper received an award from President Barack Obama for his community service efforts in the Houston area.
