Abouts a child, raised in Oregon by his grandparents, Shawn McDonald turned to drink and drugs, eventually living on the streets and dealing. A brush with the law made him rethink his life and, having read a passage of the Bible, vowed to clean up his act.
Having turned to God he began recording songs full of the wisdom he'd gained from his troubled life and the lessons he'd learned since. His debut album 'Simply Nothing' was released in 2004, which he followed with 2005's 'Live In Seattle'.
He has continued to release an album each year with 'Ripen', Scattered Pieces: live' and 2008's 'Roots', which includes several songs inspired by a visit to Zimbabwe, where Shawn and his wife were working for the World Vision charity.
