AboutShirley Luisa Bassey was born on January 8, 1937 at Tiger Bay, Cardiff, Wales to John Bassey(1918-2011) and Carla Bassey(1916-1988).At the age of 17, she left college and the family home and she moved to Stockholm, Sweden.She met swedish actor Carlo Deamon in May 1958 and they married on August 31, 1958 at Stockholm, Sweden.She became pregnant in early September 1960 and Elizabeth Laurene Deamon on December 2, 1960 at Stockholm, Sweden.She became an abosolute star by January 1963 with her contract in Sweden.She divorced Carlo on June 22, 1964 and Carlo kicked out Elizabeth and Shirley and soon returned to Cardiff.She carried her major star and celebrity life and she met Steve Joardans in June 1966 and they married on July 2, 1966 at Cardiff, Wales. She released the No.1 hit in 1969 called Big Spender and that song made her even more famous even though she was only 32 at the time.She annulled Steve on January 20, 1974 and she carried her celebrity life and her daughter Elizabeth died at age 21 in a car crash on E35 of Arhnem, Holland.Bassey never got told until at least 1983 and she stopped recording and she booked a funeral and burial and her father and mother attended.She has had a hard time the rest of her life following Elizabeth's death. She carried on recording in Sweden after she returned in 1987.She was seriously injured in a car accident with her mother and father on M4 travelling West towards Swindon. Her mother died on January 8, 1988 from the car accident after 1 year in hospital. She attended funeral and burial and she still had her father with her.She left hospital happy to return to home in Stockholm.She left singing and acting career after her mother's death and she was very close to her.She was a regular at her daughter Elizabeth and her mother Carla's grave.She later met and married actor Lee Deasiskelo in February 2003 and they divorced on December 31, 2005 and she carried on her recording and she presently lives in Stockholm, Sweden at age 74.
