AboutSofia Essaïdi was born on August 6, 1984 in Casablanca, Morocco. Her father is Moroccan and her mother is French. She stayed in Morocco until she was 18. After passing her Baccalauréat, she went to Paris, and started studying economy. Her first passion was dancing, she also studied piano and percussion during 5 years.
Caroline Christi, Sofia's singing teacher in Casablanca, said : "At first, she sang for herself. When she first came into my lessons, we worked on her voice. She already had the rhythm and exactitude. First thanks to dance, and second cause she always sang while playing the piano. One thing is sure, after the first play we did at the end of the first year, she told me that she loved the scene..."
Sofia participated to French "Star Academy" in 2003 and she decided to work more and more. She didn't win on the TV show, but her career started after. After some singles, like the cover of Police's "Roxanne" in 2004, Sofia released her first album Mon Cabaret in August 2005.
