AboutBorn Tinashe Jorgenson Kachingwe (on February 6th, 1993), Tinashe is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer, actress, and a former model and member/lead vocalist for the girl group, The Stunners from 2007-11.
She made her acting début in the television film Cora Unashamed in 2000 and done voice acting alongside Tom Hanks in the 2004 film "The Polar Express". She later had a recurring role in the sitcom "Two and a Half Men" as Celeste, Jake's girlfriend (2008-2009).
In 2012, Tinashe released two critically acclaimed mixtapes: In Case We Die and Reverie, which she created in her home studio. After the release of the mixtapes, Tinashe signed with RCA Records. She later released her third mixtape, Black Water, in 2013.
Her début single, 2 On feat. ScHoolboy Q reached #1 on the Rhythmic chart and peaked at #24 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Her début studio album, Aquarius, was released in 2014 and was universally acclaimed; noted by music critics as one of the most "solid" débuts by a new female artist in years. A second single off "Aquarius" album called Pretend (feat. A$AP Rocky) was released but failed to chart.
To continue her music streak, Tinashe released singles in collaboration with other artists for All Hands On Deck featuring Iggy Azalea and Player (feat. Chris Brown) (which was the original intended first single for her next album). Both these singles were certified ARIA Gold.
In September 2015, Tinashe announced the tentative title of her upcoming sophomore album to be called "Joyride". However it wasn't till years later that the actual album was to come to light to the public mainly because in 2016, Tinashe released Nightride. "Nightride" featured many of the songs that were supposed to be on the original "Joyride" project, including "Sacrifices," "Soul Glitch," "Ghetto Boy," and "Touch Pass" (which she initially premiered at Joyride's November 2015 listening party and performed on the Joyride World Tour in early 2016). The promo singles "Ride of Your Life" and "Party Favors" (without Young Thug) were both ultimately placed on Nightride.
After differences with and delays from her former label RCA over choice of music releases, mediocre/failed singles like Superlove, Company and Flame; it wasn't till January 18, 2018, that Tinashe released the first lead single off the "Joyride" album, titled No Drama featuring Offset. Joyride was finally released on April 13, 2018. The album also had singles like Faded Love and Me So Bad (feat. French Montana and Ty Dolla $ign).
In February 2019, Tinashe's manager announced she had parted ways with RCA, stating that the "positive split" was "giving her back creative control". After her departure, Hot New HipHop published a report believing she was in the midst of being courted by multiple major labels. She then signed a management deal with Roc Nation on November 7.
On November 21, 2019, was released as Tinashe's first independent album and fourth album overall. This allowed Tinashe to have more creative control over her music.
